Welcome Team – Church

What is it?

Members of the Welcome Team act as both greeters and ushers for the 10:30 traditional service. We greet people on their way in to the church, pass out bulletins, help people find seats, take up the offering and assist with people coming down the steps from Communion.

We also do a head count for the pastors so they know how many for communion. After the service, we help to clean up the sanctuary by picking up bulletins, covering the kneelers after communion, and closing the shutters.

We get to see everyone coming in and try to help make members and guests, feel welcome. After the service, we try to speak to guests and let them know a little about the different services and groups available at the church.

Who can join?

Anyone, no training.

What is the commitment?

We serve with teams of 4 members once every 5 Sundays.

Welcome Team –

Ministry Center

What is it?

Members of the Welcome Team act as both greeters and ushers for the 10:30 contemporary service. We greet people on their way in the Ministry Center, pass out bulletins, help people find seats, take up the offering and answer questions for visitors.

We also do a head count for the pastors so they know how many for communion. After the service, we help to clean up the sanctuary by picking up bulletins, and making sure that the collection gets to the counters team.

We also direct people to the welcome desk for more information and the kiosk where brochures on ministries and events at Saint James are located.

Who can join?

Any member will be welcome to join. Training will be provided by a seasoned usher.

What is the commitment?

We serve with teams of 2 usually about once a month and we work with everyone’s availability on assignments.
